Last week our washing machine stopped working. In the middle of a wash cycle, of course. We called a repair guy and I hung all the wet clothes up to dry in the bathroom and our son's bedroom. (He moved out years ago).
The repair guy came and fixed the machine and everything was great. Then the dryer refused to go on. Of course, it was the weekend, so we couldn't call until Monday. The dryer guy came out and in a very short time discovered that the dryer had become unplugged. [sigh]
What the repair guys told us is that appliances no longer last as long as they used to. Not that our appliances are new, they aren't, and we're holding onto them as long as possible. There are a number of reasons why appliances don't last as long -- including increased complications of digital components. Also, the government frequently updates requirements for appliances that require redesigns and updates for manufacturing.
I'm still catching up on the laundry. Fingers crossed for the rest of our appliances!
When something comes in twos or threes, I always wonder what the universe is trying to tell me.
